Those squirrels are everywhere and come right up to you. Not hard to believe that one thought the camera might contain food and popped up to take a closer look. I'm pretty sure that this photo is legitimate - because of the whiskers and the size of each pixel. I've looked this over in Photoshop, and MS paint and I don't think you could easily have done this in either program.
