A suit was filed against The Pirate Bay by an anti-piracy organization BREIN. According to the suit filed by BREIN, the Pirate Bay is responsible for numerous copyright infringements everyday. They have to block traffic to and from The Netherlands and if they could not do it, the co-founders will have to pay $42,300 per day in penalties. The co-founders are Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Fredrik Neij and Peter Sunde Kolmsioppi.

According to these three men, they never received such summons. They said they were totally unaware of the case and they will definitely appeal the court order. According to TorrentFreak reports,

“They were not present in court”

Gottfrid Svartholm Warg, Fredrik Neij, Peter Sunde Kolmsioppi and Carl Lundstrom as well were fined for copyright infringement and were sentenced to jail for a year, in April. Carl Lundstrom was the man who financed the site.

In August, Swedish software company Global Gaming Factory X AB acquired the Sweden-based, after being sold for $8 million USD. It was reported that the deal was yet to be finalized as approvals from investor and board are still required. GGF is on to transformed The Pirate Bay into a legal music site.

Twitter is Down

Twitter is Down this morning after a “denial of service” attack. Facebook has also been slow. So no worries, your computer is ok!

On Twitter’s corporate blog Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter said:

“On this otherwise happy Thursday morning, Twitter is the target of a denial of service attack. Attacks such as this are malicious efforts orchestrated to disrupt and make unavailable services such as online banks, credit card payment gateways, and in this case, Twitter for intended customers or users. We are defending against this attack now and will continue to update our status blog as we continue to defend and later investigate.”

Twitter seems to be back up and working now, but this of course has been one of the longest outages of twitter in the last few months.
