The Nocturne Jordan Scott
The author of “The Nocturne”, Jordan Scott, is accusing Stephanie Meyer, author of “Twilight” of plagiarism.
Jordan Scott claims that the 4th book in the Twilight Saga “Breaking Dawn” by Stephanie Meyer is very similar to her book “The Nocturne” which was published in 1996. According to Scott’s lawyers the similarities are the following:
- Both Books contain a wedding
- Both books have a sex on a beach scene
- Both books have a character explain what it’s like to go from a human to vampir
- Both books have the lead vampire character referring to their wife as ‘love’.
In response The Hachette Book Group said:
“The claim that Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer somehow infringes on an alleged book by someone named Jordan Scott is completely without merit. Neither Stephenie Meyer nor her representatives had any knowledge of this writer or her supposed book prior to this claim. Ms. Scott’s attorney has yet to furnish us with a copy of the book to support this claim as requested. The world of The Twilight Saga and the stories within it are entirely the creation of Ms. Meyer. Her books have been a phenomenal sensation, and perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that other people may seek to ride the coattails of such success. This claim is frivolous and any lawsuit will be defended vigorously.”
Although Scott’s attornies say that Scott is not looking for compensation, what Jordan Scott does want is recognition and for Meyer to stop the production of any future movies that profit from Scott’s work. What do you think, did Stephanie Meyer copy Jordan Scott’s ideas? Or are the similarities just a coincident?
