Whitney Cerak | Mistaken Identity

Whitney Cerak was mistakenly identified as Laura Van Ryn. Both where students at Taylor University and both where in a van accident that left 5 people dead and 6 severely injured.

Medical personal identified Whitney Cerak to be Laura Van Ryn. Laura Van Ryn’s family took care of Whitney thinking it was their daughter only to realize 5 weeks later that it wasn’t.

Whitney Cerak went back to Taylor University after recovering from her injuries. She was in the graduating class of 2009.

Since then this case of wrong identity has made headlines all over the world and made Indiana and Michigan state reconsider making more strict guidelines when identifying bodies.
